Commissioner Issues Special Alert to Consumers

SPRINGFIELD, IL - Commissioner D. Lorenzo Padron, of the Illinois Office of Banks and Real Estate, today issued a special alert warning citizens that the following entity may be conducting a banking operation in Illinois without legal authorization:

The Office of Banks and Real Estate has not granted a State charter to this entity, nor does this institution have the authority of the State or FDIC to operate or purport to operate a banking business in Illinois. Consumers should not participate in any transactions involving this entity. The web site appears legitimate, but consumers are warned not to provide any personal information.

Consumers are encouraged to contact the Office of Banks and Real Estate at (217) 785-2900 or by electronic email at banks@bre.state.il.us with any information regarding the purported business operations of Global Credit Bank and Trust Company.
